How to change the railway station "Almaty-1"

The governor of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baybek during the working visit inspected the railway station "Almaty-1", where after the transfer to the municipal property of the city this year reconstruction will be started.

The head of the city mentioned that for the modernization of the station should be used inexpensive, but high-quality materials, as well as applied modern architectural solutions.

Due to redevelopment, it is planned to increase the daily throughput from 11 to 16 thousand passengers. In turn, the number of waiting places will be almost quadrupled.

For the organization of safety and comfort of people, it is proposed to divide the flows when arriving and departing passengers do not overlap. For this purpose, modern concourse passages will be built, the existing underground passage will be expanded and escalators will be installed.

Earlier, KTZh JSC decided to transfer the Almaty-1 and Almaty-2 railway stations to the balance of the city. This will allow the executive committee of Almaty not only to carry out a proper reconstruction of the facilities, but also to develop them as part of the transport infrastructure of the city.

At the expense of funds from the local budget in 2018, both railway stations were already reconstructed. Redistribution of flows with a priority for public transport was made in front of the stations themselves, pedestrian crossings with security islands were equipped and video surveillance cameras were installed.

It is worthy to note that this year, work on the development of a comfortable urban environment will continue in Almaty. Today, two thirds of the historical center of the city has been reconstructed, 524 streets and almost 1,400 old courtyards have been repaired. One third of street lighting was translated into LED and energy-saving lamps, 300 km of aryks and about 1000 km of utility networks were replaced. All subways of the city have been updated.

According to the transport reform, only last year, 500 new buses entered the city routes. This year, the city’s buses renewal will continue.
