In Almaty 200 new gas buses will start its services in June
12 april 2019

In Almaty, as a part of transport reform, the renewal of buses and the increase in the route network of the city continue. Already in June, 200 new low-floor buses on gas will take to the streets of the city. In total, this year it is planned to buy more than 460 new buses.

New high-capacity buses will be equipped with air conditioning, ramps and security cameras. New rolling stock is designed to reduce waiting times and congestion during peak hours on routes.

It should be noted that now through the installed cameras of Almatyelektrotrans LLP, drivers are monitored. All violations are considered by the disciplinary commission.

Up to 80% renewal of the city’s bus fleet was made possible, including through the introduction of the Onay cashless payment system, which made it possible to withdraw funds from the shadow turnover.

If earlier fleets were updated at the expense of budget funds, now transparent market mechanisms have been created that allow carriers to invest their own funds. At the same time, since the beginning of the year, 125 new buses have already been launched on the city’s roads, serving the busiest routes, such as No. 65, No. 60 and No. 14.

In general, within the framework of the transport reform implemented in Almaty, the bus fleet of the city in just two years has already been updated by more than 80%, the first BRT line in the country has been launched, carsharing services have been introduced, the construction of two new metro stations and the implementation of the LRT project continues.

In addition, from April 15, the city will begin an average overhaul of more than 120 streets, new roads will be built on 456 streets in 14 city microdistricts. At the same time, construction works will not affect the work schedule and routes of public transport. To avoid traffic jam, full road closure is planned only at night.
