For the first time, expensive drugs will be given for orphan diseases by an automated system in Kazakhstan
23 may 2019

By the “Almaty - Adaldyk Alangy” project, the first automated medical device, the pharmaceutical robot has been used in the city. The new digital approach in providing citizens with vital drugs and minimizing corruption risks was appreciated by Almaty governor Bauyrzhan Baybek during an inspection of the Almaty Cancer Center.

“Pharmacy Robot” is the first project in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, which allows the delivery of expensive medicines to patients with cancer. From the doctor’s prescription to the release of the drug to the patient, the whole procedure is systematized and automatically sent to the database. The issue of the drug is made only after identifying the patient’s face or by means of a fingerprint. Further the personal electronic card is started and the preparation written out by the doctor is given.

“This project minimizes corruption risks and allows for complete control over the issuance of medicines, eliminating the risks of a formal write-off on“ dead souls ”. In addition, the system allows to observe their storage conditions and exclude direct contact between the patient and the medical worker, ”said the head of the Project Office Almaty - Adaldyk Alangy, Alexander Bratenkov.

During his visit to the Almaty Oncology Center, Bauyrzhan Baybek also examined the new radiological building commissioned. If earlier the institution provided medical assistance only in the areas of surgery and chemotherapy, then due to the of the radiological building, the radiation treatment method became available.
