30 january 2020

The Akim of Almaty Bakytzhan Sagintayev announced this on his official Twitter account.

The exchange of experience and the application of best practices were discussed at a bilateral meeting of Bakytzhan Sagintayev with Chris Ferguson, director of the UK Government Digital Service.

“We discussed issues of cooperation and exchange of experience on the implementation of the Smart City concept in Almaty, in the areas of ecology, transport and public safety, as well as education and the training of specialists,” wrote Akim B. Sagintayev.

The UK Government Digital Service (GDS) is the government agency responsible for the digital transformation and automation of public services in the country.

The Government Digital Service was formed in April 2011. Since mid-2013, it has been promoting the concept of government as a platform that combines the basic infrastructure of digital systems, technologies and processes, where it is easy to build user-oriented public services.

Among the tasks of the GDS is the creation of digital opportunities by expanding the GDS Academy, expanding the use of common platforms, components and data registers in government bodies, helping apply innovative technologies and developing the GovTech sector.

According to the UN ranking on the level of development of e-government, the UK took first place in 2016 and fourth place in 2018.
