Mass testing on COVID-19 stabilized the situation in Almaty

Akim of Almaty, B. Sagintayev, at a briefing for the media spoke about measures to stabilize the sanitary-epidemiological situation and of resuming vital activity of the metropolis.


According to Bakhytzhan Sagintayev, mass testing, first of all, included medical workers, law enforcement agencies, employees of the National Guard, public utilities, people with chronic respiratory diseases, patients with respiratory symptoms.

The main goal is to identify potential foci of the infection, as well as control over the epidemiological situation. This allows you to create conditions to reduce quarantine measures and resume the activities of enterprises.

To date, 149 866 tests have been carried out, including 123 855 people were examined by PCR, 26 011 passed express tests. 2353 positive results were revealed, 90% of them were found during preventive measures, 7% of local cases, 3% of imported ones.

It is worth noting that the number of laboratories has been increased from 2 to 6 with the participation of private investors. Two mobile collection points of test results have been opened.

Testing is planned to be increased to 4500-5000 tests per day.
