A batch of anti-COVID-19 drugs were delivered to Almaty
18 july 2020

Another plane with medicines landed at the Almaty airport today.

A cargo with a total weight of 32 tons, ordered by the pharmaceutical company "Inkar" in India for the city's pharmacy chain, was delivered. According to representatives of the company, a batch of anti-COVID-19 medication, with a total amount of 242 thousand packages, was unloaded at the airport. The cargo will go through customs clearance and, after completing the necessary documents, will go to the company's warehouse, from where it will be delivered to pharmacy chains.

The company also said that it has already begun implementing a mechanism for purchasing drugs into a special Stabilization Fund.

Recall, on behalf of the akim of Almaty, B. Sagintayev, 5 billion tenge was allocated for interest-free loans to pharmaceutical companies for the purchase of necessary drugs.

The funds are returnable and “work” on a revolving basis. In the beginning of July, due to panic-buying there was a shortage of fever-reducing medication and other drugs in certain pharmacies. However, as a result of promptly taken measures, the situation has been stabilized. In addition, work has begun on the supply of medicines from the Stabilization Fund of the city to the anti-COVID19 hospitals in Almaty.

As it was reported earlier, by the end of July, Almaty will receive about 6.5 million packages of anti-COVID-19 drugs.
